Veterinary Nurse / Veterinary Technician

The Naracoorte & Penola Veterinary Centre is searching for a qualified Certificate IV Vet Nurse or Veterinary Technician to join our busy team in the coming months. There are multiple job opportunities available between our Naracoorte clinic and new Casterton clinic, and there may be times when you are required to travel between all three clinics to cover shifts.

All applicants will be considered however experience within the industry is preferred.

There is a casual opportunity for a veterinary nurse or technician in our Naracoorte Clinic which is a purpose built clinic with x-ray, ultrasound, sterile surgery, inhouse Idexx blood machines and equine facilities. Within this position you will manage hospital patients, run anaesthetics, be in charge of ensuring surgeries for the day run smoothly and safely and also have reception duties including answering phones & booking appointments. Ability to work in a team as well as on your own is essential. This position has the potential to become permanent-part time.

We are currently in the process of opening our new veterinary clinic in Casterton, Victoria. Affectionately known as the “Birthplace of the Kelpie”, Casterton is a small, agricultural town with a population of around 1700 people, located just over the SA border 45minutes from Mount Gambier and 352km from Melbourne. There is an exciting position available for the right person to assist in establishing this new clinic including organising and setting up the clinic and beginning to build strong client relationships within the Casterton Community.

These positions are available to the right person(s) before the end of this year with flexible days and hours, in a casual capacity with the potential to become permanent part time. The Naracoorte clinic is generally staffed with 3 vets and 3-4 nurses and the Penola & Casterton clinics with 1 vet and 2 nurses each.

The work is varied and interesting, including general animal care, consult duties, surgical nursing, medical nursing and assisting in hospital management of various cases. From cats and dogs, to birds and kangaroos, we see it all. There may also be opportunity to assist the vet on farm with various procedures.
